Tuppence Middleton Joins the Cast of The Years at Harold Pinter Theatre

Sonia Friedman Productions is thrilled to announce that Tuppence Middleton will join the cast of the critically acclaimed production The Years at the Harold Pinter Theatre. Middleton will take over the role from Romola Garai, who performs her final show on Saturday 8 March. Tuppence’s first performance will be on Monday 10 March. This exciting cast change brings fresh energy to an already mesmerizing production, which has been praised for its emotional depth and stunning performances.

Adapted and directed by Eline Arbo, The Years is based on Annie Ernaux’s Nobel Prize-winning semi-autobiographical novel. The play explores themes of growth, love, grief, sexuality, history, and time, making it a rich and thought-provoking theatrical experience. It has already received glowing reviews at the International Theater Amsterdam and the Almeida Theatre.

Tuppence Middleton, known for her roles in The Motive and The Cue, Mank, and Downton Abbey, is excited to bring her talent to this groundbreaking production. She shared, “The book is very close to my heart. Eline’s adaptation brings Annie’s universal journey to life in such a moving way. I’m excited to join this incredible team.”

Critics have called the production a “masterpiece” (The Guardian) and praised its emotional depth and theatrical virtuosity. The Independent describes the production as “moving in ways theatre often tries to but rarely achieves,” and The Daily Telegraph says it is “unmissable, exquisitely mysterious, like life itself.”

Performances run Monday to Saturday at 7.30pm,

with matinees on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 2.30pm.

The show has a running time of 1 hour 55 minutes, with no interval.
