Overview
The Comedy About Spies at the Adelphi Theatre is back in London for a limited West End season, bringing Mischief’s brilliantly chaotic take on the spy thriller back to the stage.
Following its original West End run, the comedy returns to the Adelphi Theatre from 1 August to 26 September 2026, with much of the original company returning alongside Bryony Corrigan.
Created by the team behind The Play That Goes Wrong, the show mixes Cold War espionage, mistaken identities and increasingly ridiculous mishaps into a very Mischief-style night at the theatre.
It’s London in the 1960s and a rogue British agent has stolen plans for a top-secret weapon. Naturally, both the CIA and KGB want them back.
Their search brings agents from both sides to London’s Piccadilly Hotel, but they’re not the only people staying there. Throw a young British couple and an actor desperate to land a role in the first James Bond film into the mix and things rapidly begin to unravel.
Expect secret agents, mistaken identities, double-crossing, physical comedy and an increasingly chaotic mission where very little goes according to plan.
The production won Best New Play at the 2026 WhatsOnStage Awards and was Olivier-nominated for Best New Entertainment or Comedy Play.

Why See It
If you already love Mischief’s particular brand of comedy, this is an easy one to add to the West End list. You don’t necessarily need to have seen one of their previous productions, though.
The combination of spy-film clichés, elaborate physical comedy and escalating misunderstandings gives The Comedy About Spies its own identity while retaining the meticulously organised disaster Mischief audiences know and love.
