Clarissa's Corner

About Clarissa

Writer. Reviewer. Curious mind.

Hi, I’m Clarissa — the person behind Clarissa’s Corner, an independent UK blog for theatre, horror, culture, books, days out, travel, accessibility and the wonderfully strange things I fall down rabbit holes researching.

Part current guide, part personal review site and part growing archive, Clarissa’s Corner mixes useful information with genuine experience — without pretending every show, film, attraction or press night is automatically brilliant.

The person behind the Corner

I’m based in South East London and my interests rarely stay in one neat box. One week I might be at a West End musical, the next at an independent horror event, a museum exhibition, a family day out or halfway through another book-to-screen adaptation.

I love theatre, horror, dark history, film and television, books, mythology, alternative culture and discovering places with a story behind them. That mix is exactly why Clarissa’s Corner has grown into several connected sections rather than one narrow niche.

I’m also neurodivergent, so practical details matter to me. Accessibility, sensory information, journey planning, seating, timings and what an experience actually feels like can make the difference between booking something and avoiding it altogether. Where I can, I include the details I would want to know myself.

What Clarissa’s Corner is about

This site is built around honest coverage and useful discovery. Reviews stay personal, guides stay practical and older productions or visits are kept as part of the archive rather than rewritten out of existence when something new comes along.

Press invitations, hosted visits, gifted experiences and affiliate links are disclosed. Being invited somewhere never guarantees a positive review.

Why theatre has such a big place here

Theatre has become one of the biggest parts of Clarissa’s Corner. I cover productions, performers, venues, press nights, cast changes, transfers and UK tours, from major commercial shows to smaller independent work.

I also treat theatre coverage as an archive. A new cast or revival does not erase the production that came before it. That history matters, especially to the performers, creatives and readers looking back later.

Start with the Theatre & Culture hub, or meet performers and creatives through Stagey Spotlight.

Work with Clarissa’s Corner

I work with theatres, producers, PR teams, destinations, attractions, brands, authors and creatives on reviews, press coverage, interviews and well-matched collaborations. Theatre, immersive experiences, cultural days out and anything with a quirky or spooky twist are always going to catch my eye.
