If you’re a fan of Winnie the Pooh, then the immersive stage set of Deep in the Hundred Acre Wood is an experience not to be missed.
The set is complete with Rabbit’s garden, a bridge, and a honey tree, making it feel like you’ve stepped right into the pages of A.A. Milne’s classic tale. Seeing it in real life made my heart full, and I couldn’t wait for the show to begin.
The show brought the beloved illustrations to life through amazing puppeteering and excellent voice acting. Jake Bazel’s voice matched Pooh Bear perfectly, and I loved the experience of seeing the characters on stage. The little extras were so cute that my heart burst, and the voices were great. The puppeteering was outstanding, making all the characters seem lifelike. We even saw a small appearance of Christopher Robin, played by George Menezes Cutts.
However, my only gripe about the show is that Christopher Robin wasn’t blonde. Despite this, we enjoyed hearing Tigger’s signature song, “The Wonderful Thing About Tiggers,”
and watching many songs and dances that entertained us throughout the show.
The actors and puppeteers did an amazing job, uniquely bringing each character to life. Jake Bazel portrayed Pooh, Robbie Noonan brought Tigger to life, and Alex Cardall played Eeyore, Rabbit, and Owl. Lottie Grogan was the adorable Piglet and Roo, Chloe Gentles played Kanga, and Laura Bacon was part of the ensemble.
The story was sweet and heartwarming, and seeing Eeyore smile several times was cute. At one point, Rabbit did something that shocked one of the children in my row with her hands over her face, which made me chuckle. You can’t help but love the characters even more than you already do.
After the show,
the merchandise was available outside, and they had an offer on four plushies that came with a free tote bag worth £15. I had to resist buying Piglet with his little winter scarf! Riverside Studios, where the show was held, is conveniently located near the Hammersmith station and the Eventium Apollo venue. A parking PayByPhone app is nearby, making it easy to get to.
In conclusion
Deep in the Hundred Acre Wood was a magical experience! I highly recommend it to anyone who loves Winnie the Pooh and his friends. The immersive set, outstanding puppeteering, and excellent voice acting make it a show you won’t want to miss.
