Writers’ Room Festival at The Marlowe Theatre will take over Canterbury from 22 to 27 July 2025, offering a brilliant week of brand-new plays, rehearsed readings, and hands-on workshops.
This inaugural event is designed to spotlight fresh talent from Kent and across the UK. Expect a jam-packed programme of drama, insight, and inspiration – all hosted within the creative spaces of the Marlowe Theatre. Even better? All events are Pay What You Can, so everyone can get involved.

Catch never-before-heard scripts and polished short plays like Match Book by Peter Rose and Seaburn by Holly Robinson. Don’t miss Shooters by Tolu Michael Okanlawon, a gripping drama about ambition and art set in 1940s Harlem.

Enjoy rehearsed readings of scripts nurtured through The Marlowe’s Writers’ Room Advanced Playwriting course, including The Shed, Finding Turner, beats per minute, and more, showcasing the voices of Kent and beyond.
