Checked 1 September 2026: Broadway Theatre Catford has a busy autumn and Christmas programme, including Cranes from 23 September to 4 October and Cinderella from 9 to 31 December 2026. A BSL signed and Relaxed Performance of Cinderella is scheduled for 30 December at 5pm.

Overview

Broadway Theatre is a historic Grade II listed theatre in the heart of Catford. Built in 1932 by architects Bradshaw Gass & Hope, it has a distinctive mix of Art Deco, Tudor and Gothic Revival details and has served the local community for more than 90 years.

Its programme mixes theatre, comedy, music, community work and family shows, making it one of the strongest cultural anchors in the London Borough of Lewisham.

A Little History

The building opened in 1932 and was originally planned for civic, social and dramatic use. During the Second World War it was used as an air-raid shelter, telephone exchange and ration distribution centre. It later became Lewisham Concert Hall, then The Lewisham Theatre, before taking the name Broadway Theatre in 2001.

The theatre became Grade II listed in 1993 and underwent a major refurbishment in 2022, including improvements to facilities and accessibility.
