Whitby Goth Weekend 2026
The official Whitby Goth Weekend dates for the autumn gathering are Friday 30 October to Sunday 1 November 2026. Rather than treating the weekend as one single ticketed event, it is useful to think of it as a wider town-wide gathering with different venues, markets and independently organised events running alongside it.
Tomorrow’s Ghosts Festival
Tomorrow’s Ghosts Festival returns to Whitby Pavilion for its 2026 Halloween Gathering over the same weekend. The programme includes live Gothic and alternative music, an alternative and Gothic market, and a special conversation and Q&A event with Lol Tolhurst.
The 2026 line-up includes The Mission, with different sets across Friday and Saturday, plus Lol Tolhurst, The March Violets, Evi Vine and Tristwch Y Fenywod. The alternative and Gothic market is advertised as free entry.
Revenant
Revenant also runs alongside Whitby Goth Weekend, with three nights of alternative live music and free community events. Its autumn dates are listed as 30 October, 31 October and 1 November 2026 at The Royal Hotel, West Cliff.
Illuminated Whitby Abbey 2026
Illuminated Whitby Abbey runs from Friday 23 to Saturday 31 October 2026, with the evening experience currently listed from 5.30pm–9pm. English Heritage is lighting the Gothic ruins after dark and adding a new interactive family performance built around Victorian Gothic themes and Bram Stoker’s Dracula.
The 2026 performance invites families into the story rather than presenting Dracula only as a figure of fear, making this a useful crossover between Whitby’s Gothic history, literature and family Halloween programming. Food and drink vendors are also expected on site.
Ticket status: English Heritage is currently showing the event as bookable, but the published event price table is still awaiting prices. Online pre-booking is recommended and is expected to be cheaper than buying on the door.
Accessibility: English Heritage confirms step-free access from parking to the main site, accessible parking, accessible toilets, wheelchair loans and ramped routes into and through parts of the ruins. However, the 2026 FAQ specifically warns that not every area of the promenade performance element will be fully accessible. This is an important distinction if you need a fully step-free route through the performance itself.

Accessibility
Whitby Pavilion confirms ramps and lift access throughout the venue, with the exception of the theatre balcony. Accessible toilets are available in the main foyer, wheelchair spaces are limited and should be requested when booking, and the venue has an induction loop system. Guide dogs are permitted in public areas.
Accessibility varies across the wider Whitby Goth Weekend because events take place at different venues, so check each individual organiser and venue rather than assuming the whole weekend has the same access provision.
Getting Around Whitby
North Yorkshire Council has confirmed that Whitby Swing Bridge will be closed to traffic from 10:30am–5pm on Friday 30 October, Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November 2026 for Whitby Goth Weekend. The closure is intended to improve pedestrian safety during the event.
