Evita Musical

and always feeling overcome with sadness. Given that, I know nothing but that and belting out my song rendition. Emma Hatton has the lead role of Eva Peron. I had to come and see her perform again! I say again. because she was Elphaba in Wicked (READ HERE). Her vocals and passion blew me away and made me want to start reviewing theatre.
The story follows Evita’s early life

Ernesto “Che” Guevara. was an Argentine Marxist revolutionary, physician, author, guerrilla leader, diplomat, and military theorist. It tells the story of how Eva sleeps her way up the social ladder. becoming a model, radio star, and actress (“Goodnight and Thank You”). Her rise to power, charity work, and eventual death of Cancer. She moved from her hometown to Buenos Aires, where the rise of her popularity and socialite began. She had to be seen looking good, showed a turned-out woman. even with all her publicity. For her husband, Juan Peron, people were unhappy with Eva’s publicity. Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Evita is iconic. some of the best-loved songs in musical theatre,
Don’t Cry for Me, Argentina
On This Night of a Thousand Stars
You Must Love Me
Another Suitcase in Another Hall
I have to say I found this a very song-filled show. There wasn’t much talking; the stage setting and ensemble, along with the live band worked with amazing grace. I was hoping to learn more about it.
I meant to see this years ago, but the story had always interested me… It’s nice to know that the pieces of the puzzle come together so well. Although I do tend to like dialogue as well as singing…
Evita is one musical I would definitely love to see on stage, I can imagine it is a very moving show to see.
I have to admit this isnt one i have ever really wanted to see, not sure if it was the madonna connection that put me off or not. I love the fact its almost all song though!

I’ve always wanted to see Evita! Like you, I always felt a deep sadness whenever I heard Madonna sing ‘Don’t Cry for Me, Argentina’. Off to see if it’s coming to a theatre near me 🙂
