Today, I’m in London for a theatre-filled day at the autistic performance of Wicked The Musical. It’s been a while since I’ve had a girls’ day with my KK, so I’m absolutely thrilled! This marks my second time going monkey-free for most of the day, and I’m so excited to experience Wicked live on stage again.

Stunning Performance at the Apollo Theatre

From the moment the show started, we were absolutely captivated. Wicked The Musical is one of those productions that pulls you into its world of magic, adventure, and unforgettable songs. The atmosphere at the theatre, especially at the Apollo Theatre, was incredible, and I loved every moment of the performance. The show’s spellbinding and magical elements kept us both gripped with happiness and wonder from start to finish.

Emma Hatton’s Incredible Portrayal of Elphaba

Emma Hatton, who played Elphaba, was simply amazing. Her voice was powerful, and she brought so much depth to the character, making Elphaba’s journey unforgettable. If you haven’t seen her performance yet, I highly recommend checking it out through this link. It’s a must-watch for any theatre lover!

Reflecting on the Story of Wicked and The Wizard of Oz

The storyline of Wicked had me reflecting on The Wizard of Oz in a whole new way. It made me realize that the classic tale isn’t as perfect as it seemed when I was a child. Wicked shows us that there are two sides to every story, a message that I believe everyone should remember. The complexity of Elphaba’s character and the journey of friendship and self-discovery left a lasting impact on me, and there were even moments that brought tears to my eyes.

The show’s energy was contagious, and the entire theatre came alive with every scene. The magical world of Wicked is so vivid, and the special effects, lighting, and stage design were out of this world. I was completely mesmerized, and it was such a relief to enjoy the performance without worrying about KK’s needs. She could relax and enjoy the show, and that made me feel at ease as well.

Relaxed Performance of Wicked: A Perfect Day Out

The relaxed performance of Wicked made this experience even more special. If you’re unfamiliar with relaxed performances, they are designed to be more inclusive for individuals with autism and other sensory sensitivities. These performances typically feature adjusted lighting, sound levels, and a more relaxed atmosphere, allowing people to feel comfortable and enjoy the show without the usual pressure. This was such a wonderful experience for KK and me, and I would highly recommend attending a relaxed performance if you have the chance.

Meeting New Friends: Sophie, Lou and Hope, and the Magic of Friendship

We also had the privilege of meeting a wonderful lady named Lou and her daughter, Hope, who is also on the spectrum. We connected with them so well, and we’ve already planned to meet up during the Half Term holiday for a fun day out. It’s always great to meet new friends, especially those who understand and appreciate the challenges that come with being on the spectrum. Sophie, if you’re reading this, thank you so much for making both girls feel like true princesses. Your kindness made this day even more memorable!

If you haven’t seen Wicked yet, I highly recommend it. The show is truly magical, and the relaxed performance made it an unforgettable experience. If you’re a theatre lover or a fan of The Wizard of Oz, you’ll want to see this show. I can’t wait to attend more shows at iconic venues like the Apollo Theatre and share all my experiences with you!

Exploring Wicked at Ripley’s Believe It or Not!

we decided to check out Ripley’s Believe It or Not, where we stumbled upon a special Wicked exhibit! It was such a fantastic bonus to our day. The exhibit featured an array of Wicked themed items, including costumes, props, and other memorabilia from the show. Seeing these iconic pieces up close was a real treat for any fan of the musical.
