Agatha Christie’s Death on the Nile Adapted by Ken Ludwig

The UK & Ireland Tour of Agatha Christie’s Death on the Nile, adapted by Ken Ludwig, will open on 26 September 2025 at The Lowry in Salford. Following the sell-out success of previous productions And Then There Were None and Murder on the Orient Express, the new adaptation of this iconic Agatha Christie thriller will take audiences on a journey through the Egyptian heat, where murder, mystery, and intrigue unfold.

A Thrilling New Adaptation of Agatha Christie’s Classic

Directed by the acclaimed Lucy Bailey (Witness for the Prosecution), Death on the Nile brings Christie’s beloved detective Hercule Poirot to life once again. The adaptation, written by Ken Ludwig, promises to deliver a gripping experience for fans of the genre. The tour will run through 2026, with tickets for some venues going on sale in February 2025.

Plot Overview

Onboard a luxury cruise down the Nile, a couple’s honeymoon turns deadly when a brutal murder is committed. As the heat of the Egyptian sun intensifies, secrets buried in the sands of time are exposed, and Poirot must untangle a web of lies. Can Poirot solve the crime before the murderer strikes again?

Director and Team Behind the Production

Celebrated director Lucy Bailey returns to direct her fifth Agatha Christie play, following her successful run of Witness for the Prosecution, which is still performing at London’s County Hall. Bailey comments, “Death on the Nile is one of Agatha Christie’s most passion-driven thrillers. It takes place in the midsummer heat of Egypt, where a group of holidaymakers finds themselves trapped in a living nightmare. It’s a voyage into the heart of darkness.”

The production is presented by Fiery Angel, with Ken Ludwig providing the adaptation for the stage.

James Prichard on the Tour

James Prichard, CEO of Agatha Christie Limited, said, “Following the huge success of Murder on the Orient Express, we are excited to work with Lucy Bailey, Ken Ludwig, and Fiery Angel again. It’s an honor to bring another of Agatha Christie’s most celebrated stories to UK stages.”
