Overview
Created by Carlos Acosta for Birmingham Royal Ballet, The Maiden of Venice is a full-length reimagining of La Bayadère, resetting the story in Renaissance Venice while retaining themes of love, betrayal, power and revenge.

What to Expect
The production moves away from the original ballet’s 19th-century setting and reframes the story in Venice. The source material supplied for this draft describes a plot involving Admiral Sandro, Nicola, the Doge’s daughter and Bishop Olivolo, set against a world of political intrigue, jealousy and spiritual conflict.
