Bexley Eco & Wellness Festival – Saturday 5 September 2026

11am–5pm · Lesnes Abbey Woods, SE2 0AX · Free entry · No ticket or booking required

The Bexley Eco & Wellness Festival is a free family event at Lesnes Abbey Woods with live music, drumming, dance, eco crafts, nature activities, Forest School, kids activities, community stalls, an eco market, street food, a clothes swap and a Wellness Zone. The event information also highlights free yoga, meditation and gong healing, plus wildlife and community organisations.

The event map is useful for planning ahead: it shows a Quiet Zone, toilets, first aid, information and lost child point, food stalls, Eco Market, Kids Zone, Chill Zone, Wellness Zone, the stage and other activity areas. Organiser information says the event is around 10 minutes from Abbey Wood station on the Elizabeth line.

Bexley SEND Marketplace — 5 October 2026

Monday 5 October 2026 · Public session 11am–2pm · Danson Youth Centre, Brampton Road, Bexleyheath DA7 4EZ

This practical local event lets parents and carers speak directly with services including Bexley Local Offer, Bexley Voice Parent Carer Forum, IASS, Children with Disabilities Service, Speech & Language, Family Wellbeing and the EHCP Statutory Assessment Service.

The official listing says parking at Danson Youth Centre is very limited; free parking is available at Crook Log Sports Centre, around a five-minute walk away.

Sidcup Film Weekend – 5 & 6 September 2026

The Shortest Nights: British Short Film Festival returns to Castle Sidcup and Sidcup Storyteller on 5–6 September 2026, with programmes spanning comedy, drama, animation, horror and family films. The Sunday programme at Sidcup Storyteller runs from 12pm–6:30pm, with current tickets from £12.95 standard for adult programmes and £8 adults / £7 children for the family programme. Falconwood Family Find – 17 October 2026

SELMEC Meccano Show 2026 takes place at Falconwood Community Centre on Saturday 17 October from 10:30am–4:30pm. Adults are £5, and children aged up to 16 can enter free when accompanied by a paying adult. Expect working Meccano models, a hands-on Make It With Meccano workshop, a Creative Challenge, electronics activities, model railways, refreshments and sales. Erith Made & Heritage Open Days – 12 September 2026

Erith Made Festival 2026 takes over The Exchange and venues across Erith on Saturday 12 September, with free activity celebrating the town, its people and places. At The Exchange, the programme includes open studios, garden tours, local-history activity, arts and crafts, movement and meditation sessions, vinyl DJ sets and Heritage Open Days events inside the Grade II-listed Old Library. The Exchange is also worth keeping on the Bexley radar year-round. Its Sarah Price-designed garden is free to visit during opening hours, and the venue runs craft, family, local-history and community events across the year.

Erith & Thamesmead: Free Creative and Family Finds

The Exchange Erith is becoming one of the most useful local venues to watch for free and low-cost creative activities. Its current autumn programme includes free all-ages Board Games Club sessions on Thursday evenings, a free Family Art Club, local-history sessions such as Memories of Erith on 24 October, and regular free opening of its Sarah Price-designed community garden. Some workshops are ticketed separately. Check The Exchange’s current What’s On calendar before travelling.

Over in Thamesmead, keep an eye on community and nature programming around the Lakeside Centre and wider area. These smaller walks, workshops and activities are usually better suited to this live local guide than individual posts, and we’ll add the strongest confirmed dates as they are announced.

Crayford, Slade Green & Local Family Resources

Crayford and Slade Green are currently stronger for useful recurring family and youth provision than one-off visitor attractions. Bexley Council lists free term-time children’s sessions at Crayford Library, while Slade Green Youth Hub runs regular sessions for young people aged 11–18 at Slade Green Community Centre. These are useful neighbourhood resources, but we won’t turn every recurring session into a separate article. See Bexley’s current youth hub programme.

Hall Place & Gardens

Hall Place & Gardens is one of Bexley’s standout heritage stops, with historic architecture, formal gardens and regular family and seasonal activity. The gardens are free to visit, while some events and experiences may be ticketed separately.

Danson House & Danson Park

Danson House and the surrounding park make an easy local day out, especially when combined with seasonal events, lakeside walks and open green space. Danson House is also a very personal place for me — it’s where I got married, so it has a completely different meaning for me beyond being one of Bexley’s best-known historic landmarks.

Danson Fireworks 2026 — Saturday 7 November

Danson Park, Bexley · Gates 4pm · Fireworks 8pm · Early-bird tickets currently from £8 child / £14 adult; family tickets from £22

Danson Fireworks returns on Saturday 7 November 2026 with a choreographed display over Danson Lake, live entertainment, funfair rides, food and traders. The organiser says the display lasts around 20 minutes and that prices rise after the early-bird allocation sells out. Under-5s are currently free. Booking is through Skiddle; Clarissa’s Corner does not currently have a confirmed Skiddle affiliate relationship, so the direct official booking route is used here.

Accessibility: event-specific wheelchair viewing, step-free event routing, accessible toilets/Changing Places and quiet/SEND provision have not yet been confirmed clearly enough for this guide. General Danson Park access should not be assumed to apply to the temporary event. The organiser currently lists essential companion/carer tickets as free, subject to its application process.

Lesnes Abbey Woods combines woodland walks, local history and the ruins of Lesnes Abbey, while other heritage places across the borough include Red House, Crossness and local historic sites around Bexleyheath and Sidcup.
