My Word for 2018: Organised

My Word for 2018 Organised was all about bringing more structure to the blog and to everyday life. I wanted the year to feel less scattered and more intentional. Most of all, I hoped better planning would make the content more useful and leave more room to enjoy what life had to offer.

During 2017, KK, Moo & Monkey 2 had plenty of opportunities. However, the content often felt a little here, there and everywhere. I did not have a clear plan, so the start of 2018 felt like the right time to reset.

Why I chose Organised as my word for 2018

Each year I liked choosing a word to guide me. For 2018, that word was Organised. Instead of making one huge resolution, I wanted a handful of practical habits I could actually use.

How I planned to get more organised

I had been reading about the routines of successful business people. Some started their day at 4am, which was never going to happen here. So, instead, I decided to build a routine that felt manageable.

10 things I wanted to do differently

  1. Wear simple, repeatable outfits and build a capsule wardrobe.
  2. Plan meals and keep a closer eye on the budget.
  3. Use an interchangeable monthly meal plan to cut down on takeaways.
  4. Set a regular winter laundry day and use a service wash when it saved time.
  5. Wash up and clean as I went.
  6. Bulk cook and freeze meals.
  7. Keep seven easy outfits ready for a smoother week.
  8. Pick up stray items from each room and return them to the right place.
  9. Do a deeper clean regularly instead of waiting for everything to pile up.
  10. Enjoy a calmer, happier and more flowing home.

Looking back at My Word for 2018 Organised

Looking back, this post is very much a snapshot of where my head was in early 2018. I wanted more structure, less chaos and a better rhythm between blogging, home life and everything else.

Some of those ideas still make sense now. Others were very much part of that particular season of life. Either way, I like keeping this one as part of the Clarissa’s Corner archive because it shows how the blog and my routines have changed over time.

Did you have a word for 2018? At the time, I was looking forward to 12 new chapters and 365 more days to share.
