A New Era for Barn Theatre Visiting Productions
The Barn Theatre Visiting Productions initiative marks a major new chapter for the award-winning venue in Cirencester. From 2026, the Barn Theatre will open its stage to visiting companies whose work reflects its values of creativity, accessibility, and high-quality storytelling.
Since its opening in 2018, the Barn Theatre has become a leading producing house, known for developing original productions that transfer to the West End and national tours.
Building on a Legacy of Barn Theatre Success
The Barn’s Built by Barn productions have earned national acclaim, with many shows continuing to thrive beyond Cirencester.
Highlights include:
- I’m Sorry, Prime Minister (West End 2026)
- A Role To Die For (London 2025)
- Friends: The Musical Parody (UK Tour 2025/26)
- Haywire, in partnership with the BBC (UK Tour 2026)
The Barn Theatre Visiting Productions programme builds on this success—extending opportunities for new partnerships and collaborative storytelling.
Partnerships Through Barn Theatre Visiting Productions
The new Barn Supported Partnerships model will give producers, theatre-makers, and visiting companies access to the Barn’s established producing infrastructure.
Benefits include:
- Development and launch support for new work
- Access to technical and marketing resources
- Opportunities to premiere shows in Cirencester before touring
“Opening our doors in this new way allows us to build on relationships and support even more exciting work,” said Creative Producer Anthony Houghton.
“We’re keen to hear from companies who share our aim of making entertaining work with popular appeal.”
What This Means for Audiences
For theatre fans, the expansion promises an even more diverse and exciting programme — without sacrificing the exceptional standards the Barn is known for. Expect new voices, fresh stories, and touring productions that capture the spirit of community theatre at its best.
Under CEO & Artistic Director Iwan Lewis, Built by Barn will continue to focus on developing tour-ready productions designed to transition seamlessly between regional and commercial stages.
