Patti LuPone Matters of the Heart London 2027 brings the Broadway legend back to the capital for two very special performances of her acclaimed theatrical concert Matters of the Heart at the London Coliseum — and the timing couldn’t be more fitting.
Playing across Valentine’s weekend on 14 and 15 February 2027, the concert explores love in all its messy forms, from romance and affairs to the mysteries and complications of the heart, through more than two dozen songs spanning Broadway favourites and contemporary songwriters.

What is Matters of the Heart?
Matters of the Heart is a theatrical concert built around love, relationships and everything that comes with them. LuPone performs more than two dozen love songs, moving between musical theatre favourites and work by contemporary songwriters.
The show has a history stretching back to 1999, when LuPone released the album Matters of the Heart and first performed the concert at London’s Donmar Warehouse. It later played the West End and toured nationally and internationally. A new tour launched in January 2026 to celebrate 25 years since its Broadway engagement.
For these performances, Matters of the Heart is conceived and directed by Scott Wittman, with musical direction and arrangements by Joseph Thalken. The concert also features the Four Play String Quartet.
Patti LuPone Returns to the London Coliseum
The 2027 dates mark LuPone’s return to the London Coliseum after performing A Life in Notes at the venue in 2025.
Her stage career needs very little introduction. LuPone is a three-time Tony Award winner, with wins for Evita, Gypsy and Company, alongside an extensive career spanning Broadway, the West End, concerts, film and television.
Beyond the stage, audiences may also recognise her from American Horror Story, Penny Dreadful, Pose, Glee and Marvel’s Agatha All Along — which makes this one particularly tempting for those of us whose interests tend to wander between musical theatre and the darker corners of pop culture.
A Rather Brilliant Valentine’s Night Out
There is something wonderfully appropriate about bringing Matters of the Heart back to London on Valentine’s Day. This isn’t simply a collection of straightforward romantic songs: the concert delves into the affairs, complications and mysteries of relationships too.
For theatre lovers looking for something a little different from the usual Valentine’s dinner, seeing one of Broadway’s most celebrated performers at the London Coliseum is certainly an option worth knowing about.
