I arrived late due to traffic (oops!), but I was quickly swept up in the magic and hilarity of this brilliant production.
Queen Dragonella Steals the Spotlight
I might be in my villain era because Queen Dragonella absolutely stole the show! Britt Lenting lit up the stage with her commanding presence, dazzling costumes, and evil cackles that had the audience booing in delight. The stunning costume designs by Teresa Nalton and Mike Coltman added extra grandeur to her performance.
One of the highlights was her hilarious antics with a Nerf gun in the second half, soaking delighted kids and a few unsuspecting adults. Muddles gleefully took over during this scene, and the audience couldn’t stop laughing.
Slapstick Fun with Muddles
Muddles was an absolute riot from start to finish. His cheeky charm and slapstick antics had the entire audience in stitches. One standout moment was his twist on The Twelve Days of Christmas, where he mischievously rearranged props, leaving the cast hilariously confused.
And then there was that farting scene—Muddles crossing the stage had me crying with laughter. If you love slapstick comedy as much as I do, this show delivers it in spades.
Prince Gareth’s Comedic Mishap
Prince Gareth, played by Gareth Gates, had a hilarious panto moment when he accidentally flung a roll of toilet paper into the audience. His expression switched from horror to sheepish amusement as he muttered a quick “oops.” The audience loved it, and moments like these make pantos so uniquely fun.
A Sparkling Cast and Magical Seven
Dr. Ranj brought sparkle and wit as The Man in the Mirror, connecting beautifully with the younger audience while keeping adults entertained. His fabulous costumes added a modern, glittering edge to the classic tale.
I was thrilled to see a real-life magnificent seven of dwarfs on stage—a rarity in many pantomimes. Their heartfelt and authentic performances made this production stand out.
Unforgettable Audience Interaction
Audience participation is a panto essential, and this show nailed it! Watching kids’ faces light up as they were invited on stage to join the fun was heartwarming.
The chaos, like Muddles soaking the audience with a Nerf gun, added to the festive mayhem. The Twelve Days of Christmas scene with its unique twists was another audience favorite.
