Uncanny Con 2024: A Paranormal Celebration at Southbank Centre
Uncanny Con 2024 took place at London’s Southbank Centre, a perfect venue for exploring the paranormal. The central location made it easy for fans to gather, while the atmosphere enhanced the event’s eerie themes.
The day featured thrilling panels, spooky stories, and engaging meet-and-greets. Enthusiasts and sceptics came together to celebrate all things uncanny.
Getting There and Accessibility
Traveling to the venue was surprisingly straightforward, and I was so pleased to see how accessible it was. My friend Lou, who came along, found the lifts invaluable, and the staff went above and beyond to ensure her comfort—bringing her a chair while we waited in the meet-and-greet line. They even kept things light-hearted, having a bit of fun with a zapper (which had me giggling!).

Elton’s Phone: Uncanny’s Most Popular Case
One of the day’s top moments was revisiting the Elton’s Phone case. It was voted the favorite in a recent Uncanny Community poll. Seeing the original phone on display was surreal.
The haunting details of the case came alive during the live recording. Combined with the Southbank Centre’s atmosphere, it created an unforgettable experience.
Exploring Borley Rectory: Britain’s Most Haunted House
The Borley Rectory panel explored one of Britain’s most famous ghost stories. Jon Culshaw moderated a lively discussion featuring Ciaran O’Keeffe, Deborah Hyde, and other experts.
They debated whether the rectory’s ghostly reputation was based on fact or fiction. The session offered fascinating insights and left me eager to research the topic further.
The Uncanny Community: Growing Together
The Uncanny Community has grown significantly since the first event, as Danny Robins pointed out. Attendance has jumped from 300 to over 1,000 in just one year.
While the panels were engaging, I noticed limited interaction between attendees. I would have loved to hear more people sharing their theories and personal stories.
Aliens Are Real?!
One panel revealed that a conspiracy theory about aliens had been confirmed as true. This sparked big questions about humanity’s place in the universe.
A speaker summed it up perfectly: “We’d be naive to think we’re the only lifeforms out there.” That idea left me wondering what other mysteries might be uncovered soon.
Connecting the Paranormal Dots with 2:22 A Ghost Story
Reflecting on Uncanny Con made me think about my own love of the paranormal. It reminded me of 2:22 A Ghost Story, a thrilling stage production that blends suspense with supernatural themes.
