It Was Time to Treat Ourselves

It was about time I treated Mr. B and myself to a night out—and what better show than The Rocky Horror Show! When I found out it was playing not far from us, there was no hesitation. The tickets were in my basket faster than you can say “Time Warp,” and there was no looking back!

The performance was scheduled earlier in the evening, which meant a bit of juggling. I had to arrange care for both girls—one with a nanny and the other closer to home. It was a bit of a faff, and to top it off, it was my first night ever without my little monkey!

After the drop-offs, we were on our way. I was driving, and of course, finding a car park became a mission. Argghhh! But finally, Red (my trusty car) was parked safe and sound, and we were headed to the theatre.

The Atmosphere

As we approached the theatre, it was easy to spot fellow Rocky Horror fans. It was fantastic seeing people of all sizes and backgrounds fully embracing the dress-up spirit. Stockings, suspenders, fishnets, feather boas, heels, French maid outfits—you name it! There was even someone rocking a gold glitter jacket and top hat for that perfect Magenta vibe.

The ambience was electric. The energy in the room was palpable, and that was before the show even started.

The Show Begins

The night kicked off with the deep-voiced Norman Pace as the Narrator. His banter with the audience was hilarious—you could easily spot the seasoned fans with their well-timed shout-outs. Pace handled it brilliantly, even chuckling at some of the unexpected audience quips, which only added to the night’s fun.

The songs were, as always, iconic. We even got up to do the Time Warp (because how can you not?). Liam Tamne’s performance as Frank-N-Furter was nothing short of phenomenal. He truly did justice to Tim Curry’s legendary role, bringing his flair while honouring the original. The lighting effects were so good they had me jumping out of my seat more than once!

Final Thoughts: A Night to Remember

It was an amazing, fun-filled night. The Rocky Horror Show is risqué, for sure, but it’s also the kind of show that pulls you in and gets you on your feet. How can you not dance along?
