Christmas magic is lovely. The price of taking three children to meet Father Christmas? Sometimes rather less magical. If you’ve ever spotted a grotto advertised at a tempting price, only to discover adults, photos and booking fees cost extra, you’re not alone.
I’ve compared the current 2026 listings across London, Kent and the South East, looking at what a family of five — two adults and children aged 12, 10 and 5 — might actually spend. Always check the final checkout total before booking, as prices, fees and availability can change.
Westwood Cross, Broadstairs: selected saver tickets from £6.99
If you’re happy to travel into Kent, Westwood Cross is worth checking for selected lower-priced dates. Child tickets have been listed from £6.99, making three children’s admission from £20.97 before booking fees, with accompanying adults free. The advertised period is 27 November–24 December 2026.
The cheapest price may only apply to selected sessions, so confirm the precise date and final checkout total before making a journey.
Alexandra Palace: £14 per child with adults included
Alexandra Palace’s Santa’s Grotto runs from 4–23 December 2026 in the East Court. Tickets cost £14 per child aged under 16, and each child ticket admits up to two accompanying adults. For three children, the basic visit costs £42.
Sessions last approximately five minutes and include a small gift. A pre-bookable 6×4 photograph costs an additional £15. Check Alexandra Palace’s official Santa’s Grotto listing.
London Museum Docklands: quiet SEND sessions available
The Victorian Santa’s Grotto at London Museum Docklands runs from 20 November–23 December 2026, with sessions every 15 minutes between 9.45am and 4.15pm. Up to four children can attend each session, and accompanying adults do not need a ticket.
Quiet SEND sessions are advertised at 9.45am and 10am, with sensory stockings available. Babies in arms can attend free with a ticketed sibling but do not receive a gift. The current ticket price still needs confirming at checkout, and the museum says online booking is cheapest. See the official London Museum details.
Santa visits still awaiting reliable 2026 confirmation
These venues are promising, but I haven’t found strong enough current information to quote them as confirmed bargains yet:
- Charlton House: the £10 information located relates to a 2025 Mrs Claus event, not a verified 2026 grotto.
- Canterbury Christmas Market: 2026 market dates appear in listings, but the current Santa experience and price have not been confirmed by the organiser.
- Ruxley Manor: a 2026 tracker record exists, but the official grotto page reached during checking still displayed older booking text. Keep an eye on our Ruxley Manor Christmas 2026 guide for updates.
- Royal Greenwich free Santa visit: the council page found does not clearly identify a 2026 date, so it should not be treated as current yet.
Visiting Santa with SEND or sensory needs
A magical day should feel manageable too. Before booking, check quiet-session times, step-free access, queue arrangements, photography policies and whether a child can meet Santa without pressure to speak or pose. London Museum Docklands’ early quiet sessions are the clearest verified option in this guide so far.
Quick family-of-five price check
- Westwood Cross: from £20.97 for three children, before booking fees, on selected dates.
- Alexandra Palace: £42 for three children, with up to two adults admitted per child ticket.
- London Museum Docklands: adults attend free, but confirm the current child-ticket total at checkout.
These are guide prices rather than guaranteed checkout quotes.
My final tip
Always check whether adults need tickets, whether the gift is included and whether you’re allowed to take your own photos. Those little extras are where a bargain can suddenly stop looking like one.
