The 2024 UK tour brought Ian Fleming’s much-loved story back to the stage with a new production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Adam Garcia led the cast as inventor Caractacus Potts, alongside Liam Fox as Grandpa Potts and Ellie Nunn as Truly Scrumptious.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang 2024 Cast

Charlie Brooks was announced as the Childcatcher for the earlier part of the tour. She joined Adam Garcia, Liam Fox and Ellie Nunn, with Martin Callaghan as the Baron and Jenny Gayner as the Baroness.

Adam Stafford played Boris, Michael Joseph played Goran and John Macaulay appeared as the Toymaker. The wider company included Charlie Bishop, Ruaraidh Blackwood, Hadrian Delacey, Belle Kizzy Green, Tia Gyngell, Kirsty Ingram, Bibi Jay, Isabella Mason, Joe Press, Theo UK Rose, Molly Rees Howe, Callum Train and Luke Woollaston.

Meanwhile, Gracie Cochrane, Ayrton English, Isla Ithier, Isabella Manning, Charlie McGuire, Jasmine Nyenya, Roshan Thomson and Louis Wilkins shared the roles of Jeremy and Jemima Potts.

Leading Performers

Adam Garcia as Caractacus Potts

Adam Garcia arrived at the tour with a long musical-theatre career behind him. His stage credits included 42nd Street, Saturday Night Fever, Kiss Me, Kate, Wicked, The War of the Worlds and The Exorcist.

He had also appeared in films including Death on the Nile, Murder on the Orient Express, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen and Coyote Ugly.

Liam Fox as Grandpa Potts

Liam Fox was well known to television audiences for playing Dan Spencer in Emmerdale. His other television work included Cold Feet, Coronation Street, Hollyoaks, A Touch of Frost and Dinnerladies.

Ellie Nunn as Truly Scrumptious

Ellie Nunn’s theatre credits included Identical, Posh, Shakespeare in Love, Twelfth Night, Honk! and Gatsby. She joined the tour as Truly Scrumptious.

Story and Songs

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang follows absent-minded inventor Caractacus Potts as he restores an old racing car with help from his children, Jemima and Jeremy. However, the family soon discovers that the car has magical powers.

Together with Truly Scrumptious, they head off on a fantastical adventure. The stage musical also features the Sherman Brothers songs Toot Sweets, Hushabye Mountain, Truly Scrumptious and the title number, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Creative Team

Thom Southerland directed the production, while Karen Bruce handled choreography. Morgan Large designed the set and costumes, Ben Cracknell created the lighting design and Gareth Tucker worked on sound design.

George Dyer provided musical supervision and Debbie O’Brien handled casting. Jeremy Sams adapted the musical for the stage, with the licensed script adapted by Ray Roderick from the MGM motion picture.

Churchill Theatre Bromley – 2024 Archive

The production played Churchill Theatre Bromley from 25 to 30 June 2024. Those dates have now passed, so this information remains here as part of the Clarissa’s Corner theatre archive.
