Crystal Lake (2026): Friday the 13th Prequel on Sky & NOW — Cast, Story and UK Release

Official Sky promotional artwork for Crystal Lake featuring Pamela Voorhees and the series title

Camp Crystal Lake is calling again. This time, rather than jumping straight into Jason Voorhees and his infamous mask, the new A24 series goes back to Pamela Voorhees and the tragedy that shaped the Friday the 13th story.

When is Crystal Lake released in the UK?

All eight episodes arrive on Monday 19 October 2026, exclusively on Sky and NOW in the UK and Ireland. Sky has not specified an exact launch hour on its official programme page. See the official Sky programme information.

What’s the story?

Set before the original 1980 film, the series follows Pamela Voorhees, still grieving the drowning of her young son Jason. When two strangers start asking questions about her past, the town’s secrets begin to unravel. It’s a prequel, not a remake of the original slasher.

Who is involved?

Linda Cardellini plays Pamela Voorhees. Brad Caleb Kane created and wrote the series and serves as showrunner. The cast also includes William Catlett, Devin Kessler, Cameron Scoggins and Gwendolyn Sundstrom. A24 produced the series, with original Friday the 13th writer Victor Miller among its executive producers.

How does it connect to Friday the 13th?

The original film made Camp Crystal Lake a horror landmark. Pamela’s story is central to that film, while Jason became the franchise’s enduring masked figure in subsequent entries. This series promises to explore the family tragedy and mythology behind the killings, so there’s plenty here for fans of slashers and psychological horror alike.
