Some stories stay with you forever—and for me, Edward Scissorhands has always been one of those. So when I heard about ScissorHandz: The Musical, I knew I had to experience it for myself.

ScissorHandz: The Musical Review – An Intimate & Immersive Theatre Experience
The intimate setting of this production made it feel even more magical. We were right up close, able to see every expression, movement, and detail. And the best part? I got snowed on! ❄️
Instead of feeling like a traditional musical, ScissorHandz: The Musical had a concert-like atmosphere, with music that flowed beautifully through the story. It added a whole new emotional depth to Edward’s journey.
Even though I already knew how the story would end, the stage adaptation introduced a few fresh twists that kept me completely hooked.
A Transatlantic Cast Bringing the Magic to the UK
One thing that stood out was the transatlantic team behind the production. Many of the cast and creative team came from America for the show’s three-month UK run.
And they did not disappoint.
ScissorHandz: The Musical – Standout Performances
⭐ Jordan Kai Burnett (ScissorHandz) – Jordan embodied Edward Scissorhandz perfectly. Every small movement, every glance, every physical expression was spot-on. Their performance had the same quiet, haunting energy as Depp’s original portrayal, and I honestly think Johnny Depp would have been proud.
⭐ Emma Williams (Peg) – At first, I wondered why they made Peg blonde instead of brunette, but honestly, her performance was fantastic. I loved watching her character grow from being pushed around to becoming more empowered—a great addition to her arc.
⭐ Lauren Jones (Kim) – Lauren brought strength and warmth to Kim. While I did miss the long blonde hair from the original, her performance made up for it completely. She wasn’t just the love interest—she was a fighter.
⭐ Dionne Gipson (The Inventor) – An absolute powerhouse. Her vocals? Incredible. This was one of the biggest changes from the film, where the Inventor was played by a man. In this adaptation, the role was reimagined as a female character, and I loved it! Instead of just being in Edward’s past, she guided him from beyond the grave, adding so much more emotional depth to the story.
⭐ Tricia Adele-Turner (Joyce Vanderpump) – Joyce was scandalous, cheeky, and hilarious. Tricia’s tight outfits, confident attitude, and playful innuendos made Joyce an absolute scene-stealer! She brought just the right amount of chaos and comedy to the role.
⭐ Annabelle Terry (Esmeralda) – The god-worshipping Esmeralda was funny! You could feel her frustration bubbling under the surface, making every line even funnier. And her dance moves? Let’s just say she was a lot sexier than she was probably meant to be. Her giant hat gave me serious Lord Farquaad vibes, which made it even better. 😂
⭐ Ryan O’Connor (Helen & More) – Ryan played several roles and was hilarious, especially as Helen. His comedic timing was on point!

Not only was it great value for money, but the meet-and-greet made the experience even more magical. Instead of standing in the cold at the stage door, we met the cast in a warm, relaxed space, where we could chat, take photos, and properly appreciate their performances.
I made sure to tell them how amazing they all were because they truly made this show something special.
This show was a love letter to the misfits, the outsiders, and the beautifully bizarre. It honoured the original film while adding new layers, humour, and heart that made it unique.
It was so good that my friend booked tickets for herself and her daughter—including the VIP package! That’s how you know a show is truly something special.
