Severndroog Castle is one of those South East London places that feels slightly hidden even when you know it is there. Sitting high on Shooters Hill inside Castle Wood, the Grade II*-listed 18th-century Gothic tower hosts markets, live entertainment, community events and seasonal activities throughout the year.
This guide rounds up the currently confirmed autumn 2026 events at Severndroog Castle and will be updated as new Halloween, Christmas and seasonal dates are announced.
Latest Update
1 September 2026: Severndroog Castle currently has confirmed events through 1 November, including the final Summer Late, monthly Producers’ Markets and a sold-out Comedy at the Castle finale. No 2026 Halloween or Father Christmas dates are currently listed on the official events calendar, so these will be added only when officially announced.

Halloween and Christmas at Severndroog Castle

Clarissa’s Corner will keep this guide updated rather than carrying forward dates from an earlier year.
About Severndroog Castle
Severndroog Castle is a Grade II*-listed Gothic folly built in 1784 and set within ancient woodland on Shooters Hill. The Castle stands around 132 metres above sea level and its viewing platform offers wide views across London and beyond.
The Castle’s current general visitor information lists the Viewing Platform as open on Sundays from 10am–3.30pm, with adult tickets at £5 and child tickets at £3.50. The Tea Room is listed as open Thursday to Sunday from 9am–3.30pm. Opening arrangements can change around events, so check before travelling.
Essential Maintenance Update
Severndroog Castle is currently monitoring cracks and movement in the building with structural engineers. The Trust says it has been advised that the building is safe to remain open while investigations continue and that further updates will be published as advice changes.
Practical Information
Address: Severndroog Castle, Castle Wood, Shooters Hill, London SE18 3RT.
The nearest public car park is around 200 metres away. Severndroog recommends using postcode SE18 3RU for the Castle Wood car park. Parking can become busy on market days.
Nearby buses include the 89, 244 and 486 at Memorial Hospital and the 122 and 161 around Well Hall Road. If travelling from Woolwich, the 244 provides a useful connection from the rail, Elizabeth line and DLR area. There is a steep climb on some approaches to the Castle, which is worth bearing in mind when planning your visit.
Accessibility
Because Severndroog is a historic tower in woodland on one of London’s highest points, access can vary depending on which part of the site or event you are visiting. The approach can involve steep gradients, and access to the upper floors and viewing platform should be checked directly with the venue before travelling. Registered assistance dogs are permitted at ticketed events, although Severndroog asks visitors to contact the team in advance where possible so staff can support the visit.
More Greenwich Days Out
