Our Spookysenses Num Noms Challenge
We were sent the Num Noms Crispy M. Mallow Brains recipe to try for Halloween, inspired by the very cute M. Mallow character. The idea reminded me of the marshmallow-and-rice-crispy snacks we made when I was younger, only this version came with a much spookier twist.

Making the M. Mallow Brains
The recipe used 200g of pink and white marshmallows, 30g of butter and rice crisps. We melted the marshmallows in a bowl over a pan of hot water, added the butter and stirred until everything became wonderfully stringy and sticky.
Once the mixture came off the heat, we stirred in the rice crisps until they were completely coated.
My biggest piece of advice from the original attempt? Have the right equipment ready and wet your hands before shaping them! I improvised slightly, managed to carry on, but this mixture gets sticky very quickly.
With damp hands, we scooped up the mixture and shaped it into ovals. I made around twelve in total. After chilling them in the fridge, it was time to add the gory brain details and make them look suitably zombified.

Inspired by M. Mallow
The inspiration was M. Mallow from Num Noms. She was ridiculously cute — although what we created was definitely a little less sweet-looking once the spooky details went on!

This wasn’t our only Num Noms adventure. You can also read our original #WackyBakers Num Noms review, where we tried the Series 2 Freezie Pops set.
2026 Archive Update: Are Num Noms Still Around?
The Num Noms we collected in the 2010s now belong firmly to the nostalgia shelf, but the name has not completely disappeared. In 2026, MGA Entertainment has brought Num Noms into its newer Yummiland range with scented Num Noms body-scent collectibles. So while the original collectible series featured in this post is an archive piece, there is now a new generation of Num Noms-inspired products.
