A New Musical Inspired by Frankenstein Hits Southwark Playhouse This July

From 16–19 July 2025, a bold new musical-in-progress storms the stage at Southwark Playhouse Borough (The Little). Mona Loser is the latest creation from Kit Buchan and Jim Barne, the award-winning duo behind Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York). With a sharp pop soundtrack and biting humour, this modern musical explores identity, viral fame, and the monsters we create—both online and in ourselves.

Importantly, the show draws inspiration from Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein but reimagines it for the 21st century. As a result, it dives deep into themes like authenticity, self-image, and the blurred lines between the performer and the persona.
