Son of a Bitch at Southwark Playhouse

The Son of a Bitch play wouldn’t be complete without acknowledging its bold, thought-provoking themes. This award-winning solo show, written and performed by Anna Morris, comes to Southwark Playhouse Borough from 26 February – 15 March. Directed by Madelaine Moore, this Scotsman Fringe First-winning production takes a brutally honest look at the pressures of motherhood, social media outrage, and the expectations placed on women.

Marnie, a stressed-out mother, loses control and calls her four-year-old son the C-word in a moment of frustration. When the clip goes viral, her life spirals out of control. Jumping between past and present, Son of a Bitch explores how a single moment can define a person—and how society often refuses to acknowledge maternal regret.

I recently saw Kenrex and Scissorhandz at Southwark Playhouse, and I love how the venue showcases bold, thought-provoking theatre. Son of a Bitch is no exception, bringing a raw and darkly humorous take on an issue rarely spoken about.
