If you have a little Zog fan in the family, Warwick Castle has turned the Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler story into much more than a quick character appearance. In 2026 there are Zog experiences around the castle, including an adventure play area, an activity trail, live shows and opportunities to meet Zog.
This guide brings the family bits together so you can work out what to look for, what is included with castle admission and what to check before you travel.
What is Zog at Warwick Castle?
Warwick Castle currently lists five Zog experiences as part of its family offering. These include Zog Playland, the Quest for the Golden Star trail, Zog live entertainment and seasonal meet-and-greet opportunities.
Zog activities are included with castle admission unless a particular package or add-on says otherwise, and children under two can enter Warwick Castle free. It is still worth pre-booking your castle tickets, particularly for busy school-holiday dates.
Zog Playland
Zog Playland is an outdoor adventure playground themed around the world of Zog. It includes Princess Pearl’s Tower, dragon slides and swings, tunnels, sand and sensory play, plus a winged zip wire.
The play area is open daily weather permitting. Warwick Castle describes it as fully accessible for wheelchair users and visitors with limited mobility, and as autism-friendly. As it is outdoors, the castle may close it during cold or wet weather.
Quest for the Golden Star
The Quest for the Golden Star turns the castle grounds into a Zog adventure trail, following activities inspired by Zog’s lessons at dragon school. Warwick Castle lists the trail as fully accessible.
There is currently a date discrepancy across Warwick Castle’s own 2026 pages: its main Zog and shows information lists the Quest through 23 October 2026, while the Zog Play & Stay information says the Quest and live shows end on 27 September 2026. If the trail or shows are a major reason for your visit, check the castle’s timetable for your exact date before booking.
Zog Live Shows
Zog is also back on stage at Warwick Castle in 2026. The castle’s current show listings include Zog Live Show and Zog and the Flying Doctors Live Show. Show times and operating dates can change, so use the day’s timetable rather than planning your whole visit around a fixed time.
Warwick Castle states that the Zog live show is fully accessible to wheelchair users and visitors with limited mobility and features BSL interpretation.
Meet Zog
Zog meet-and-greets are also advertised for the 2026 season. These are a lovely addition if you have younger children who would rather meet the character than tackle the bigger castle attractions. Check the daily timetable when you arrive so you know when and where Zog is appearing.
Zog Play & Stay
For families who want to turn the visit into a short break, Warwick Castle also offers Zog-themed Play & Stay breaks. The package can include an overnight stay, castle entry, breakfast, parking and Zog-themed activities, with the exact inclusions depending on the package and date you choose.
Don’t rely on an old headline price when planning: short-break prices and availability vary, so compare your actual dates and accommodation before deciding whether a stay or a day visit works better for you.
Is Zog at Warwick Castle Good for Younger Children?
This is one of the parts of Warwick Castle that makes the attraction easier to build around younger children. You can mix the Zog trail and Playland with the castle’s wider family attractions rather than expecting little ones to spend the entire day looking at historic rooms.
