Alton Towers is one of those places where it is very easy to start by looking for a simple day ticket and end up planning an entire themed short break. With thrill rides, CBeebies Land, seasonal events, Halloween nights, Christmas stays and 2027 breaks already on sale, there are quite a few ways to visit depending on who you are travelling with and how much time you want at the resort.

If you mainly want the rides and attractions and do not need a hotel stay, a one-day ticket is the simplest option. Alton Towers recommends booking in advance, and visitors need to pre-book their chosen date.
One day can work well if you already know which rides are your priority, but Alton Towers is a very large resort. Families wanting CBeebies Land as well as the bigger rides, or anyone hoping to take things at a slower pace, may find two days more comfortable.
Is the Alton Towers 2 Day Pass Worth It?
For many visitors, this is where the value becomes interesting. A two-day ticket gives you two consecutive days in the Theme Park, which can make a big difference if you want to explore without trying to cram everything into one day.
It makes the most sense if you want to divide the park into sections rather than racing between rides. It can also give you a second chance at headline attractions if queues, weather or ride availability get in the way on day one.
Alton Towers Scarefest 2026
Scarefest is the big one for Halloween fans. In 2026 it runs on selected dates from 26 September to 1 November: 26–27 September, 2–4 October, 9–11 October and 16 October–1 November.
The event mixes family-friendly Halloween entertainment with bigger scares, scare mazes and the chance to experience major rides after dark. The Smiler, Nemesis Reborn and Wicker Man are among the rides Alton Towers highlights for nighttime Scarefest visits. Some scare attractions are separately ticketed, so check what is included before booking.

Alton Towers Santa Sleepover 2026

Alton Towers Short Breaks
A short break is worth comparing with separate park tickets if you are travelling a long way or already know you want more than one day at the resort. Alton Towers has several themed accommodation choices, including Alton Towers Hotel, Splash Landings Hotel, CBeebies Land Hotel and Woodland Lodges in the Enchanted Village.

Alton Towers 2027 Breaks Are Already on Sale
If Alton Towers is part of your 2027 plans, booking has already opened. The currently advertised 2027 short-break package includes an overnight stay, two days of Theme Park entry, breakfast, nine holes of Extraordinary Golf, evening entertainment and free parking.
Booking early is mainly useful for getting a wider choice of accommodation and dates, particularly if you need school-holiday weekends or a particular themed hotel.
Toxicator at Alton Towers
