Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice Carol Concert 2026

Friday 4 December 2026 · 7pm–8.30pm · Chapel at the Old Royal Naval College · tickets from £20

Christmas by candlelight — and a festive night supporting a local hospice. Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice’s traditional Carol Concert brings Christmas carols led by the Trinity Laban Choir, special readings and a torch-lit procession to the historic Chapel at the Old Royal Naval College. The £20 chapel ticket includes concert entry and a programme; the £25 festive ticket also includes a mince pie and a glass of mulled wine, with the festive gathering beginning in the Queen Mary Undercroft before the 7.30pm concert.

Accessibility: the organiser states that wheelchair capacity is limited to a maximum of two wheelchair users, so anyone requiring wheelchair access should contact the hospice in advance at events@gbch.org.uk. Seating is unreserved and cannot be allocated. There is no event parking at the Old Royal Naval College, so public transport is the practical option. Tickets are non-refundable.

Maryon Wilson Park Centenary Festival

Sunday 13 September 2026 · 10am–4pm · Free entry

Maryon Wilson Park is celebrating its centenary with a free community festival marking 100 years of the park. The event artwork highlights a wood sculpture workshop, storytelling, seed sowing in the new meadows, guided history and environmental walks, opportunities to meet animals and RDA horses, and an afternoon of music and poetry. The festival is presented with the Friends of Maryon & Maryon Wilson Parks, Royal Borough of Greenwich and ParksFest 2026.

Charlton House Christmas 2026

Charlton House has a full festive programme from late November, including a free Christmas Fair on 5–6 December, Santa’s Grotto, wreath-making, Mrs Claus storytelling, Santa Paws and Ghost Stories for Christmas. One event deserves particular attention for families who need clearer access support: Jack and the BeanSTEM, a SEND-friendly pantomime created around a more flexible, multisensory experience.

The official event information confirms Makaton, sensory toys, interactive and multisensory elements, wheelchair access and a sensory/quiet room. Ghost Stories for Christmas

Old Royal Naval College — Family Days 2026

The Old Royal Naval College runs a Family Day in the Painted Hall on the third Sunday of the month, with activities from 11am and last Family Day entry advised at 3pm. Children aged 16 and under are free; adult Painted Hall admission is currently £19. Free drop-in arts and crafts are also available in the King William Undercroft Café on a first-come, first-served basis.

Families attending can currently add the Spies, Sleuths and Superheroes Film Tour at a special Family Day rate of £6 for adults, £6.50 for children or £18.75 for a family ticket.

Access update: due to current lift issues, only the Upper Hall is wheelchair accessible. Family Day activities are being replicated across both halls so wheelchair users can still take part. Buggies currently need to be left in the café buggy park. Because lift status can change, check the official information before travelling.

Father Christmas at the Old Royal Naval College

Admiral’s House at the Old Royal Naval College is hosting several Father Christmas experiences across November and December 2026. The programme includes standard visits, babies-and-toddlers sessions and Father Christmas’s Workshop.

Relaxed & SEND-friendly sessions

The current official listing confirms relaxed SEND-friendly sessions with softer lighting, reduced noise and fewer visitors. For Father Christmas’s Workshop, the 9.30am sessions on 4, 5, 6, 11, 12 and 13 December are listed as relaxed SEND-friendly. Additional 10.15am relaxed sessions are also listed for the quieter babies-and-toddlers and standard Father Christmas dates.

Children’s tickets currently range from £5 to £65 depending on the experience and date, with adults listed as free. Advance booking is essential.

Queen’s House — Relaxed Santa Sessions

For Christmas 2026, Royal Museums Greenwich has confirmed quieter Santa sessions at the Queen’s House for neurodivergent and SEND visitors on 15 November at 2.45pm, 28 November at 11.15am, 4 December at 5.15pm and 10 December at 5.15pm. Pre-booking is recommended.

Royal Observatory Greenwich — last chance before temporary closure

The Royal Observatory remains open until 2 November 2026, then closes temporarily as the First Light transformation continues. If standing on the Prime Meridian, visiting historic Flamsteed House or seeing Mirror Moon is on your Greenwich list, autumn 2026 is the time to go.

Royal Museums Greenwich says the Meridian Courtyard is due to reopen in summer 2027, while the wider First Light project is expected to be completed in spring 2028. That means the whole Observatory should not be described as reopening in summer 2027.

Current standard admission is £24 for adults and £12 for children. Because opening hours, temporary closures and ticket availability can change during the transformation works, check the official visitor information before travelling.

Greenwich Town Centre & Maritime Greenwich

Greenwich town centre is the easiest place to combine several major sights in one day. The Royal Observatory, Cutty Sark, National Maritime Museum, Queen’s House, Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich Market and Greenwich Park are all part of the wider visitor area. The National Maritime Museum and Queen’s House offer free general entry, while other attractions and temporary exhibitions may be ticketed. Cutty Sark £10 Tuesdays — ends 29 September 2026

Tuesdays 8, 15, 22 and 29 September 2026 · £10 promotional admission

Royal Museums Greenwich is currently offering Cutty Sark admission for £10 on Tuesdays through 29 September. Standard adult admission is £22, so the promotion cuts £12 from the usual direct adult price. This is a direct Royal Museums Greenwich offer and is the best-value route currently confirmed for those eligible dates.

Separate concessions also remain available: £3 tickets for visitors receiving specified means-tested benefits, free tickets for carers accompanying a disabled visitor, and a 10% Max Card discount. These are separate eligibility-based offers and should not be treated as part of the £10 Tuesday promotion.

National Maritime Museum — free October half-term

The National Maritime Museum is running a free October half-term programme themed around myths, legends, bugs and creepy crawlies, with family craft workshops and storytelling across the week. The activities are free and drop-in with no separate advance activity booking required; free Museum entry can still be booked in advance.

Cutty Sark Wool Evening — textile and maritime heritage

Thursday 1 October 2026 · 6.30pm · £15 non-members · £12 members/students

This special evening connects Cutty Sark’s trading history with traditional textile craft through wool demonstrations, product displays and conversations with the international wool community, alongside film, drinks and live music. It is a useful heritage pick for readers interested in traditional craft as well as maritime history.

Luke Jerram in Conversation — National Maritime Museum

Friday 9 October 2026 · 6.30pm–8pm · £14 adults · £11 students

Cutty Sark Sea Shanty Festival 2026

Saturday 21 November 2026 · 10am–6pm · included with Cutty Sark admission

Cutty Sark celebrates its 157th birthday with sea-song performances and workshops from UK and international performers, bringing traditional working songs and maritime folk culture onto the ship. Standard direct admission is currently £22 adults and £11 children.

A Royal Museums Greenwich Day Pass covering Cutty Sark and the Royal Observatory is currently £38 for adults and £19 for children. It only makes sense if you are genuinely planning both attractions.

Cutty Sark — in the dark

Friday 27 & Saturday 28 November 2026 · 6.30pm and 8.30pm · £35–£80 adults · around one hour

in the dark is an immersive live-music experience in the Cutty Sark dry berth performed in complete darkness. Seating is unreserved and the official event information states that latecomers are strictly not permitted.

Important access detail: wheelchair spaces are limited to a maximum of three visitors per event. Cutty Sark has lifts to all ship levels, companion tickets are available for guests unable to attend independently, and wheelchair users are asked to contact the bookings team before purchasing. Kidbrooke — Prince Philip Maritime Collections Centre

Greenwich coverage is much bigger than the town centre, and the Prince Philip Maritime Collections Centre in Kidbrooke is becoming one of the borough’s more useful hidden-culture spots. It is home to Royal Museums Greenwich’s stored collections and regularly hosts behind-the-scenes tours, conservation-led events, creative workshops and community sessions.

Experimental Saturdays — Sip & Paint

Saturday 7 November 2026 · 5pm–8pm · tickets from £15

This Sip & Paint explores the theme “Our Journey”, using maps, meaningful places, memories and milestones as creative inspiration. Paints, materials and a selection of drinks are included, and no previous art experience is required.

North Greenwich & The O2

Greenwich Peninsula has a very different feel from historic Greenwich. Around The O2 you’ll find Up at The O2, the London Cable Car, entertainment, restaurants and other experiences. Woolwich

Accessibility & SEN-Aware Planning

Accessibility information can vary widely between historic buildings, outdoor spaces, theatres and modern attractions. Always check the individual venue before travelling, especially for timed or specialist access sessions.

Getting Around Greenwich

The borough is served by National Rail, DLR, the Jubilee line at North Greenwich, buses and river services. Because the area stretches well beyond Greenwich town centre, it usually makes more sense to plan one part of the borough at a time rather than trying to cover Greenwich, The O2, Woolwich and Eltham in a single day.

A Local Charity Close to My Heart

Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice will have a permanent place in this local guide. When my mum was ill, the hospice became a haven for us at an incredibly difficult time. The care, calm and support we found there is something I will always be thankful for, so I want Clarissa’s Corner to help get the word out about the hospice and the work it does for local families. The Community Hospice supports people with terminal illnesses, their loved ones and carers across Greenwich and Bexley. I’ll use this section to highlight fundraising events and ways the community can support them, while keeping the personal reason behind my support here rather than turning it into just another events listing.

BYMT Presents ’26 — A Night of New Musicals at Woolwich Works

British Youth Music Theatre brings its annual celebration back to Woolwich for a one-night showcase of standout songs and performances from its 2026 season of new musicals. Young performers and musicians aged 11–21 reunite for the evening, which also includes the announcement of the New Music Theatre Award.

Halloween in Greenwich — October 2026

Three useful local Halloween finds are now confirmed for the end of October. Park It in the Market: Halloween Special takes place at Greenwich Market on Thursday 29 October from 7.30pm–10pm and is free, with vintage cars and bikes, live music, DJs, stalls, street food, decorations and fancy dress.

On Saturday 31 October, Spooky Circus comes to Woolwich Works with aerial acts, contortion and a fiery finale, while the Old Royal Naval College offers either a family-friendly Halloween film-music concert in the Chapel or a 16+ murder mystery in Admiral’s House.
