September 2026: What to Watch, See & Do | Clarissa’s Corner

Clarissa’s Corner September 2026 guide to theatre, cinema, culture, heritage, days out and events in a dark scrapbook editorial style

September always feels like a bit of a reset. Summer is winding down, theatre is getting busy again, autumn events are starting to appear and — naturally — I’m already looking towards spooky season.

This is my September 2026 catch-all: what’s happening on Clarissa’s Corner, what I’m watching and reading, theatre and cinema worth knowing about, local days out, streaming picks and the things already creeping onto my radar for October.

Start Here: September Highlights

This page is the jumping-off point rather than one giant listings dump. The strongest September stories now have proper guides of their own, so you can tap straight into the bits you actually want.

Theatre This Month

September’s theatre coverage is already filling up, from venue round-ups to new musicals, fringe work and major London productions. These are the strongest starting points.

Cinema This Month

Clarissa’s Corner What’s New at UK Cinemas September 2026 scrapbook cinema guide

New films, horror, family releases and adaptations are all collected in the UK Cinema Releases September 2026 guide. If you’re trying to make cinema trips cheaper too, the Cheap Cinema Tickets UK guide is worth bookmarking.

Streaming & TV

I’m keeping this selective rather than dumping every platform release onto the page. Horror, adaptations, true crime, family viewing and the things that genuinely fit Clarissa’s Corner get priority.

Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story Netflix guide

Netflix: Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story arrives 17 September and is absolutely one of my biggest September rabbit holes.

BBC Radio 4 and Royal Court Theatre 70 years of plays

Listen/watch crossover: BBC Radio 4 and the Royal Court celebrate 70 years of plays with landmark drama from the archive.

Chill & Thrill

September is when Halloween stops feeling ridiculously early and starts becoming an actual plan. The horror side of the site is already warming up nicely.

Wisdom and Wyrd Market at Chislehurst Caves 2026

Wisdom & Wyrd Market — witchy market, Chislehurst Caves and a very Clarissa’s Corner kind of Sunday.

Face Your Fears 2026 31 Days of Halloween

Face Your Fears 2026 — the big 31 Days of Halloween hub is already live and growing.

Crossness Pumping Station visitor guide

Crossness Pumping Station — September events now, with its Halloween Steampunk Spooktacular waiting in October.

What’s On & Days Out

For September specifically, don’t miss Heritage Open Days, Totally Thames Festival, Italia Conti Sidcup’s free open day and the Greenwich Family Events & Free Days Out guide.

Books & Adaptations

This Time Last Year

Clarissa’s Corner has a lot tucked away in its archive, and I want these monthly pages to help surface that history instead of burying it.

Coming in October

October is going to need its own survival plan. Halloween and half-term coverage will ramp up across the site, with Face Your Fears 2026: 31 Days of Halloween becoming the big seasonal special alongside theatre, cinema, streaming and local October events.
